Easter Clipboards

What a great idea for Easter Baskets! It does take some time for drying so be sure to make it in advance.

There are so many things that you can do with this clipboard just by choosing different paper. You can add different embellishments to personalize it with flowers, or letters to add someone’s name; or you can use paper with a specific theme or team logo for older kids. I like the paper with different sayings, especially for girls. For a boy you can use sports paper like basketball or soccer.

The best part is that it’s made by you and the person that receives this gift will love it even more. Each board has its own personality as you can see by the two different boards that I did.

These are mini clipboards that fit perfectly into an Easter Basket. The ideas are endless, use your imagination you might surprise yourself.
Items Needed :
1 Wooden Clipboard
2 Pieces of Scrapbook Paper
Paper Mod Podge
2 Colors of Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue Sticks
Sponge Stick
Plastic Plate
Paper Towels
Trash Bag
Jewels
Bumble Bees
Ruler

1. Put your Trash Bag on a table or counter.

  • Put you Clipboard and paper on top of the Trash Bag.
  • Make sure to remove any price tags from the Clipboard.
  • I used the mini clipboards, but you can also use full size.

2. First We’re going to cover the back side.

  • Lay the clipboard on top of the paper.
  • Make sure the paper is upside down so that you don’t mark on the good side where the design is.
  • Trace around the edge of the clipboard onto the paper.
  • This is the pattern so you know where to cut.

3. Cut the paper along the lines that you marked.

4. Pour some Mod Podge into a plastic Bowl.

  • Make sure it is made for paper, there are different kinds.
  • The regular Mod Podge can cause the paper to get too wet and wrinkle.
  • You’ll need to work fast because this glue dries really fast.

5.  Dip a sponge brush into the Mod Podge.

  • Brush the Mod Podge onto the Clipboard in even lines.
  • Make sure to cover the entire side.

5.  Lay the Paper on top of the Mod Podge.

  • Use a Plastic Ruler and run it along the paper to get all of the lumps and wrinkles out .
  • Don’t use a ruler with a metal edge, this will tear the paper.
  • Use your hands to make sure the edges are firmly attached.

6.  Let the clipboard dry for 2 hours.

7.   You will need to use a zip tie to hold the clip up.

  • Loop the zip tie through both of the clips holes and pull tight.

8.  Once the Back is Dry turn the board over so you can start the front.

  • Line the paper up just below the clip.
  • Turn the clipboard over.
  • Make sure the paper is upside down so that you don’t mark on the good side where the design is.

9.  Trace around the edge of the clipboard onto the paper.

  •  This is the pattern so you know where to cut.
  • Cut the paper along the lines that you marked.

10.  Dip a sponge brush into the Mod Podge.

  • Brush the Mod Podge onto the Clipboard in even lines.
  • Make sure to cover the entire side.
  • You’ll need to work fast because this glue dries really fast.

12.  Cut out two extra strips of Paper on the sections beside the clip.

  • Cut out Paper in the shape that you need and glue to the Clip Board using the same method as above.
  • Let it dry for 2 hours.

13. Now it’s time to coat the top of the paper.

  • Dip a Sponge Brush into the Mod Podge.
  • Brush the Mod Podge onto the paper in even lines.
  • This glue dries really fast, so you’ll need to work fast and do a small section at a time.

14.  Use a paper towel and gently rub the glue in circles.

  • This make s the lines vanish and makes a smooth surface.
  • Let dry for 1 hour.
  • Repeat this process and add another coat of glue.
  • Let it dry for 1 hour after 2nd coat.

15.  Repeat this same gluing process on the back side of the clip board.

16.  Now it’s time to add the fun sparkly stuff.

  • Attach the ribbon the edge of the clipboard with a strip of hot glue.
  • Repeat on all 4 sides.

17. Now put a strip of ribbon at the top to cover the seam where we attached the extra pieces.

  • I used a strip on stick on jewls to add to the clip.

18. Now it’s time to cover the clip.

  • Attach strips of ribbon to the clip by pulling them though the hole and double knotting each strip.
  • Alternate colors; I used 4 strips of green and 3 strops of hot pink.
  • After you tie each strip on just slide it over and attach the next one; and repeat until all of the ribbon is on the clip.
  • Once your ribbon is on your can clip the zip tie to let the clip down in the normal position.
  • For fun I also added these cute bumble bees.

19. Tada! Your clipboards are ready for your Easter Basket.

20. Remember I made 2 different boards.
